Dr. Mowrer served in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. She initiated her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in Virginia and continued in Georgia, where she served as a Master Teacher for Augusta State University. In March of 1998, Dr. Mowrer was honored by the Georgia Senate for her achievement as McDuffie County Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Mowrer teaches the early childhood methods and literacy courses at Marietta College as well as supervising student teachers and field experience students at the elementary and middle school level. She has received the Marietta College Innovative Teaching Award twice (2005 and 2009).
