What excites you about teaching at Marietta College?

I enjoy the small college atmosphere at Marietta. I attended a large institution for each of my degrees and did not get to know as many faculty and staff. At Marietta College there is an opportunity to develop deep and lasting relationships between students and faculty that enrich the learning process in many ways.

When you aren’t teaching, what other activities do you enjoy?

Anything a 6 year old enjoys! I have a very active young son, so I typically spend my time riding bikes or chauffeuring him to play dates and sports activities. I love to read, and am a sports fan — particularly football and baseball.

Do you prefer flipping through the pages of a book or an e-book?

I love a traditional book, but have been turning to e-books more and more. It is great to do some light reading on my phone when I have a few free minutes and not have to lug my book along.

What is your favorite location on campus and why?

Marietta has such a beautiful campus it is really hard to choose. When the weather is nice the Kremer Amphitheatre is great. I enjoy the resources of Legacy Library as well.

What is your favorite Marietta College event?

I am partial to the EXCEL workshop (Experiencing Civic Engagement and Leadership), a five-day event that our incoming McDonough Scholars participate in. It is an event that is run by the upperclassmen in the McDonough program, and they do such an amazing job. It is fascinating to watch all of their hard work come to fruition. I also love participating in the many service events we have on campus, such as Make a Difference Day and Community Service Day.
