Lauren graduated from Marietta College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy. She was a member of Chi Omega and the varsity softball team, in which she was first-team All-Academic OAC in 2002 and 2003. She was also a member of math honorary Kappa Mu Epsilon and participated in the Summer Program for Women in Mathematics in 2001 at George Washington University.

She received her Master of Science in 2006 from the University of Akron in Applied Mathematics. During her time at UA, Lauren was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon (Math Honorary) and Women in Mathematics, as well as a graduate assistant, where she taught many courses in the Mathematics department.

She worked as a Statistician at American Greetings in Cleveland, Ohio, from 2005-06.

Currently, she is finishing her Ph.D. in Engineering Applied Mathematics at Akron.
