PA Bailes is currently the Physician Assistant at the Dr. J. Michael Harding Center for Health and Wellness at Marietta College. Although he has traveled a great deal in his 24 years of military service, he considers Marietta his home. After graduating from Marietta Senior High School he joined the Ohio National Guard ( 2/174th ADA ) and attended Ohio University until deciding to enter the U.S. Army. After his enlistment he spent the next 10 years as a laboratory technician until he was selected for the Army's PA program. He started his life as a PA commissioned as a 2Lt and rose to the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2007. His service included one tour of Bosnia and two tours of Iraq. From his military retirement in 2007-11 he was recruited to work for the Department of Defense at Ft. Polk La. First at the Soldier Readiness and Processing Center, medically screening and preparing soldiers for deployment and re-integration. From there he went on to become the Preventive Medicine and Occupational Health PA at Ft. Polk. He brings to Marietta College the diverse skills acquired during his 15 years experience as an Army PA both in and out of uniform. His fondness for Marietta College and primary care coaxed him out of an early retirement and into his current position as the Health and Wellness Center's PA. He is dedicated to the ideal of providing quality health care to the students at Marietta College. In his off time he tries his best to keep a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle on the road. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Kathy and two Dachshunds.
