Why be an RA ?

Job Description

Resident Assistants are student leaders who serve as representatives of the Office of the Dean of Students as well as the greater Division of Student Life at Marietta College. Resident Assistants are committed towards the provision of quality living to students via creation and maintenance of safe, respectful, kind, and inclusive communities within residential buildings. By upholding and supporting the ideals represented in the 7 Core Values, Student Code of Conduct, and Residential Programming , Resident Assistants will foster the social, scholastic, and personal growth of Marietta College students.

Employment Period

The employment period for this contract is the 2013-2014 academic year. Resident Assistant training is mandatory and begins in; employment ends the day after Commencement, and after your supervisor has determined that all responsibilities have been completed.

Please note: If you are hired for a Resident Assistant position, your financial aid package could be impacted. Please check with the Financial Aid Office to see if being an RA is something you can feasibly do while at Marietta College.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong commitment toward helping many different types of students, planning events, building community, and acting as a role model in a residential setting.
  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Good Academic and Disciplinary standing.
  • Availability for employment for the entire academic year.
  • Prior approval from their supervisors regarding extra-curricular commitments beyond academics and the Resident Assistant position (e.g. Athletics, etc.)

Opportunities for 2013-2014 Academic Year

The Dean of Students Office is currently seeking candidates for the 2013-2014 academic year in residence life. We strongly encourage students interested in leadership within the residence halls to apply. All requirements and information are provided in each position's application packet.

Head Resident Assistant

Application Deadline: Friday, January 18, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Information: The Head Resident Assistant individual has additional responsibilities and is seen as a peer leader to fellow staff members. This position is for students who are either currently employed or have been employed by the department for two semesters.

Information: The department requires all current Resident Assistant to re-apply for the position each academic year. This application packet is for students who are currently employed by the department and are seeking another year of employment.
